Summer is prime time for peaches (and peach desserts) Did you know peaches were originally cultivated in China? Now, the fruit is grown almost every place with a warm, temperate climate, including Central New York. The first local peaches are now being harvested and sold at farmers markets, stands and supermarkets. Peaches fall into two varieties: clingstones and freestones, referring to the tendency of the flesh to cling to the stone. The velvety skin can range from pink-white to yellow-gold and yellow-red.
